bonnet cable fail
Hi i have a Audi Rs4 B7 and not only does this car run great its also a pretty car to look at ,i often like opening the bonnet to look at the work of art of a engine but yikes recently i went for the bonnet catch and my heart sank as i could feel no resistance as i pulled the lever ,my best guess is the cable is broken at the latch under the bonnet ,can anyone assist me with advice as to how i can open the bonnet another way.
thanx

Looking at the procedure in ALLDATAdiy, it looks like you will be able to access the cable by removing the driver's side inner fender liner. It needs to be removed to replace the cable as well.

If you get the car on a lift you can use a 2 foot long and about an 1/8 in thick rod with a 45 degree Bend in the last few inches. Pull the engine shield and go in from the pass side of the main pulley and hook the bottom of the latch and pry towards the pass side of the car. They get detached at the latch often. I have made a special tool for this.

I had the same problem but on my B6. I had to eject the grille along with slowly eliminate the nuts that held the latch to the hood/bonnet. I'm not absolute if that is conceivable with the b7 grille. Fortunately the cable was just detached and not broken.
