B8 vs B7 2.0T Power
Does anybody know why the new B8 2.0T has so much more power than the B7?
Is it posssible to upgrade the B7 to B8 power and what would it take?
Thanks

The engine in the B8 has been structurally enhanced to accept a higher turbo boost psi. Denser air (oxygen) available equates to greater ability to burn fuel and thus more power (esp. torque).

I believe the B8 2.0T has variable valve timing too which helps a lot. I had a B8 loaner for about 3 weeks and it was noticeably faster than my B7 in stock configuration. However, with APR Stage 1, my B7 can keep up...;-)

Let me say first I don't advocate street racing.... When provoked by Smart Alecks in B8s that feel superior, (feeling they have to get away off the line quicker in their new cars) they've been very surprised when I go by them quite briskly. Check out the mods in my .sig below, they're easy to accomplish and not too expensive. IMHO the B8 is a bloated looking bigger car, done so from a marketing perspective to sell against the "C" Class Merc (still attractive tho, they are Audis after all). It should have been kept compact to compete against the 3 Series BMW, again IMHO, but what do I know. Install your mods with a local tuner and have fun.

Whooosh, what sort of numbers do you think you are pulling down with APR stage II with the HFC? Do you have the fuel pump upgrade? I am getting ready to do stage I with an AEM intake. I will save have for a bit and do exhaust and possibly HFC too. I live in California so the smog **** don't dig after market cats.

GeneseeS4 asked about making B8 power (not modded B8 power), that's the point. I didn't aim to start some religious thing here, just trying to make comparison. For brief clarification sake between the two platforms:
B7 - 2.0t
Curb weight: 3428 lbs.
Width: 69.8 in.
Height: 56.2 in.
Length: 180.6 in.
Wheel base: 104.3 in.
B8 - 2.0t
Curb weight: 3527 lbs.
Width: 71.9 in.
Height: 56.2 in.
Length: 185.2 in.
Wheel base: 110.6 in.
And as for the other question about power my car makes, it's not a big secret with these motors. I see about 268hp (B8 6cyl like) with 93 octane, closer to 280hp with 100 octane. I think the K&N and Cat makes a huge difference breathing in/out. I have SMICs and the HPFP that will go in soon. I want to install the turbo upgrade, so I can recapture some of the old feeling of my UrS4 (retired).
