Default A4 TDI - Who would buy?

I asked this question when I still had my A4B6 (I was kindof laughed at, its ok - I'm used to it) - The TDI (Turbo Diesels) is something I would buy in an A4 - I got an email today with the following url -> (www.audiusdiesel.com) -- cooool!!! - However, Audi seems only to be initally offering Q7 with diesel in the US. (bummer!)

I've have been totally into the A4 since 2002 - the Q7 seems like too much vehicle for current needs

I would buy an 3.6 TDI Avant in as much/little time as it would take to convince wifey that the current Avant needs to be refreshed.

Thoughts? Opinions? Who would buy?

Default No frigin way... (big smile)

I'm only a consumer who would definitely consume a new TDI.

Maybe if we all said we'd buy a new TDI, Ingolstadt would listen...

Default Sure a 3.0TDI

I think the price of the 3.6 might be a bit out of my reach. Heck by then a new A4 avant 3.0TDI just might be out of my price range entirely! (Priority changed a year ago)

What I am curious really is how much of a premium will Audi charge for the diesel. I did talk to a coworker out in Belgium this morning and we were talking diesel engines. Over there, there used to be a premium but now, the price of a diesel engine to a comparable gas engine - the price is the same.

I'm crossing my fingers for the same for North America.

Excellent point - 3.6 seemed like kind of a middle ground between 3.2 and 4.2 FSI engines.

What do you think the touque would be on a 3.6TDI?

Dreaming...
Definitely a "pre-order" for an Avant MTQ 6/7, Technology Package w/Nav & bluetooth, Lighting Package, Sport Package - Blue-Black Pearl Effect exterior / Black Leather interior & Aluminum Trim

How's that... Too General

Default The 3.0 TDI in the A5 puts out 500nm (368 lb/ft)

From what I can tell, the old 3.0 TDI used to put out 450nm (330 lb/ft). The 4.2 TDI has a whopping 620nm (479 lb/ft).

So I guess that the 3.6 TDI would probably be in the 380-390 lb/ft range?

Whoa.

Diesel looks better and better when I look at these torque numbers.
