why is my 0-60 time is so slow..
I just bought a stick shift 2003 audi a4 1.8t. I really love the car.
as most of you know it is supposed to do 0-60mph in 8 seconds.
I just learned to drive stick about a week and a half ago. Im getting pretty good how ever i cant do 0-60mph in 8 seconds. IM DOING IT IN 12!!??
Its very frustrating since im jut not sure what i'm doing wrong to be 4 seconds slower. It almost makes me wish i got an automatic... i thought manual was faster
So off the line im revving up to 3,000 rmp's then releasing the clutch, then im shifting at about 5,000 rmp's.
Whats my problem??? I feel like im shifting at high rmps!! Im letting it rev high before i release the clutch at take off! I have the pedal to the floor and i still feel like it just isn't booting. My 2000 chrysler concorde V6 felt faster to 60.
one other thing is when i shift from 1st to 2nd i feel like i slow down for a second then speed up again..

The published times in the magazines are done by folks who know how to ring every last tenth of a second out of a car on a 0-60 run, so its hard to match those times. Something seems wrong though unless you are being very slow with your shifts, if 12 is the best you got. That is Toyota Prius slow..
Maybe your DV isn't holding the boost correctly. You shouldn't feel any hesitation between 1 and 2 gear if you are shifting at 5000 RPM or higher. You should be on the boost the entire run, and the car should leap the instant 2nd gear is engaged. The stock 1.8T A4 isn't a really fast car, but my old 1971 Fiat 128 with a couple of webers could 60 in 12 seconds!
