What's included in the 60K mile service? Dealer just quoted $675
He went through the list:
Tune up
oil change
check the steering, exhaust
flush the cowl? (rotting leaves getting to the air filter
Sounded like a glorified oil change.
Hit or Skip?
Also quoted $1,100 for the timing belt. Says water pump is not necessary because it was revised to an external location off the engine.

Skip. I just looked at the schedule. It's fluids, air filters, and a list of "checks."
That's ridiculous. The 60K is not as involved as the 40K (no plugs like 40K). I wonder if there is a way of finding out what AoA pays the dealer for the services at 20K and 40K vs. this 60K quote.
I recommend you get a few more quotes, bringing the list of items and having it in front of you when you ask for the quote. You can find the list of items on Audi USA's site, or in your manual.

Just had my 60K service today (see my post above) - total was $81.56. I think...
...they are confusing the 60K with the 80K (full tune up, etc). When I called for my appointment a month ago, I had the maintenance book in front of me and when I was told it would cost 5 to 6 hundred, I challenged them as to why it was so much. That's when the service guy realized that he was thinking of the 80K service.

The 80k has a ribbed belt replacement, so I can see that one being more than a fluid change.
And a higher price. $675 worth? don't know. But if they have to remove the bumper to do it, or other stuff, at $90 an hour, they can get to $675 with parts in less than a day.
