I think that it is in keeping with Audi's new design language
I personally am not a fan but the look certainly is akin to where Audi is going with its new vehicles in terms of the headlight styling with integrated led driving lights.

There's someone working on LED fogs for our A4...
It would replace the OEM fogs and grill. Currently designing for USP, but will also make them for regular A4s and S4s. It's taking longer than expected due to business and health. He has a post over at AZ.

I think they actually look pretty sweet.
Definately a very easy way to make your vehicle stand out amongst everyone elses.
How did he wire the LED's? Just splice into the parking lights?
If one were to do that with the fog lights, do you think it would provide just as much light as the OEM fogs?
