Default Very scarey problem. Car isn't working after light switch repair.

Hey guys. I'm having a weird problem. I just got done swapping out my headlight switch. For some reason when I twist the key they car starts for a millisecond and then it dies.

I can hold down the gas for a while when I start it and it'll stay alive but then it will quickly go down to 0rpm and die again.

The weird thng is, it was fine when I tested the headlights with the steering wheel off, but I put the steering wheel on and it doesn't work..

Another thing is, the key will not come out.

Here are a couple of things to take note of.

1.)When I took off the steering wheel this really long, white rippon loosened up and when I put the steering wheel back on, I did my best to put it back on but it probably went on crushed a little bit.

2.) When I twist the key, the horn starts honking

3.) I took off the air intake plastic to change out my headlight bulbs, and when I went to put it back on. I Kind of gave it a little whack to clip it back on, I dont know if that messed anything up. I really doubt it did though, because I was real gentle.

Please help me i'm very scared!!!

Default How to fix it? Bring it in to a dealer

I don;t know what the white ribbon, but if it's tied to the airbag, I wouldn't mess wiht it.

It's not tied to the airbag but it's a little piece that clips onto the main steering area, and then from there it has a little plug to plug in the airbag..

Does anyone have a site that shows diagrams and Audi parts?

Default Have dealer flat bed it in. That's what the warranty is for

If you don't have a warranty, I have a strange feeling you're on the wrong forum.

What exactly were you doing? You don't give any details on your car, and don't really describe much about what you were doing. If I understand correctly, you were changing light switch, but removed steering wheel??

Default "site that shows diagrams"

Hey, cheapskate - buy the shop manual! Also, buy the parts lists (check on E-Bay).

You bought the A4; you can afford these.

Agree, if you're going to do any work at least pickup the shop manual for $99
