Default 2003 B6 - hood closed without re-connecting the cable

After work on the engine, dropped the hood closed, but forgot to re-connect the hood latch cable.
Is there a way to get the hood open?

Yes because I've had to get it open becuse it came loose when I had the bumper in the service position and I didn't check it before I shut the hood. Anyway:

Pull the belly pan off and with a flashlight, look up to where the latch is between the front of the motor and the fans. Identify the mechanism in the link below and with a long rigid piece of metal (I used a concrete drill with extension, about 2 feet long), push in the direction the arrow is pointed in the thread (toward the front passenger wheel). It is counterintuative because based on the direction you pull the level in cabin, you think it should go the other way. Trust me, passenger wheel... When you get the hood up and look at it, this will make sense. You may have to play a little with where you push, but keep at it.
