Its not running rough, but the rpm just jumps up and drops down to normal without trnasfering the power to the wheels (like revving during idle).
I checked in autozone for the codes and i was told the code is related to MAF sensor.

Sorry the code was P0411.
I got more information for the same code from
http://www.passatworld.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=170246
so posibility of rectifing the issue is by checking the combi-valve and air pump..

I had MAF sensor too low code and it turned out almost all the secondary air circuit vacuum hoses were bad or plain off the connection points, this caused really rough driving and poor fuel economy. Could the burning smell be a leaking cam cover gasket - mine was leaking past this and dripping down the left side (looking from the front under the bonnet) which is the lowest side of the cam cover onto the exhaust manifold and i think the cat where it was burning off causing smoke and a bad smell in the car.
Essentially anything to do with MAF codes is a pain in the ... as the MAF may throw a code that relates to vacuum problems elsewhere but can easily be misinterpreted as a bad MAF.
Make sure all your vacuum hoses AND their clamps or connectors are sound - the clamps will let air in if they are not tight enough to create a seal.
Are you getting any coolant type warning lights or warnings either on the Driver Information System in the dash or codes in the memory?
