Pic request: roof rack carrying a kayak?
I'm thinking about getting a kayak and wondering if anyone here has strapped a kayak on the roof of their A4 yet? I don't think I've seen anyone here do racks except for skis...

I have-2 actually. No pics, but I haven't had a problem. Use Thule racks, and got some slight
scratches where the foot pad sits. Pissed me off. Speaking of that, anyone have any ideas or know of a clear product I can stick on the paint to avoid rub marks/scratches?

you can try some of the 3M clear shield material...
Alot of places sell it precut as clearbra kits for your car. Xpel is a online company that I bought my clear bra from. You can order a kit, and you should have enough scrap to make pieces for those spots. However, that surface will not be as smooth as the bare paint, so the feet will not have as good of a grip on the clearbra material. Just something to think about if you are carrying anything heavy up there...

my thule aero shield came with 3M squares to protect the paint where the rubber touches the roof, because they move around from the pressure of the wind. The Foot pads stay firm and have not scratched the roof at all, just make sure the roof and the rubber pads are clean before mounting the rack.

Audi sells one on their website:

Might be a consideration....
