Am I getting correct info for me turbo on A4 - B6 - 1.8TQM
I have a 2003 A4 1.8T (B6) Quattro - 5sp manual with AMB engine.
My mechanic said he thinks there is a loose weld on my wastegate and it is causing me to have loss of power. Said whole turbo needs to be replaced.
I bought a mechanical vac/boost gauge last week and installed over weekend.
When accelerating parital or WOT the boost goes to a max of 7 psi, never more. Is that correct amount of boost for this car?
At idle, my vacuum is at -20.

7 psi is about right for a standard 1.8T; if you have it chipped, boost levels are around the 15 psi with peaks over 20 psi.
Any other symptoms of poor performance. Find someone with VCDS and they can do some logging for you.

Thanks for the reply. I am going to purchase the Motoza Stage 1+ (with 550cc injectors) to get some boost knowing that the system appears to be normal.
Dave from Motoza was suggesting a HF Cat as well (I told him I could afford to add one more item: fmic, fpr, HF Cat, coils, and asked what he thought the best part to add to a stage 1 tune would be).
If anyone can suggest a good hfc for ~$300 for stock exhaust/turbo I am all ears/eyes, have no knowledge of how to pick one of those myself.
Thanks.
