Default new tire question

i destroyed the sidewall on my passenger side front tire, and i'm going to need a replacement. I want to order the same tire from tirerack since i only have about 12000 miles on the tires. How would i measure how much i need to ask them to shave off? or how would i get them to measure it?

also, for the spare that is brand new, would there be too big of a percentage margin for me to drive the car without damaging quattro?

tia

As long as you have 50% of tread on 2 of the tires, best play's to get 2 new of the same ones on F

Default If the spare has the same factory wheel, I would just buy 1 tire...

and use the spare and the new tire together. Use one of the slightly used tire as your spare.

Default you can measure the amount of tread left - google tread depth gauge or

parts stores may have them.

Then just tell tr to shave it to that spec.

You do need to match all four

Default no need to shave the tire

but yes, buy two. Just make sure to keep them on the same axle when you rotate. The slight difference from partially worn tires to new ones won't damage the torsen diff.
