Default but its still an automatic.

no clutch to push, and no "manual" shifting. dont get me wrong, its great for what its supose to do. but its not an manual car.

Default well its sure not an automatic either based on what makes an automatic tranny.

it takes alot more then an automated clutch to make something automatic...

Point in fact, the make up of the gearbox is totally manual, everything about it, with an automated system controlled by the driver...its much more "manual" then it is automatic. if your simply looking at driver interaction that thats an easy answer, i am looking at the whole picture including the technology.

Default Uh, tell that to Michael Schumacher

let's not confuse the snob appeal of manually operating a clutch with performance.

Default Try a downshift with a DSG... it's fast... very fast...

Spent some time in my brother's TT. It took some time to get used to coming from my 6sp, but once you get the hang of it, it's really amazing what the DSG can do...

Default you sound like somebody who would put their

tiptronic shifter into sport mode and shift up and down the gears thinking its a "manual".

Default Like I said, snob appeal and performance aren't necessarily the same thing

Don't try to confuse the issue. I have a Tip because my wife drives the car at least half the time and can't/won't drive stick. I'm not comparing tiptronic w/ stick at all. Read my post again. We're talking about DSG vs. conventional manual trannys.

Is driving a manual car more difficult? Absolutely. Should you feel proud because you are capable of doing something requiring skill? Of course. Does that mean that DSG is somehow a lesser system? Not at all. Would you prefer driving with a non-synchronized manual tranny?

Not many of us have had a chance to drive a DSG-equipped car so the jury's still out. But the fact that it can shift far faster and more precisely than a human cannot be discounted; hence its use in F1 racing. When competition and big money are at stake, doing things the more difficult or elegant way will lose out to newer technologies if the new stuff offers better performance.

Default well like i said in the post to NSalvatore

DSG is great for what its supose to do, but there are a lot of people out there who thinks its a "manual" car.
