Default NEED HELP with my newly purchased A4 3.0 AWD - Engine Sluggish ?

<center><img src="http://www.sdecars.com/ebay/03A4/7.JPG"></center><p>
Hello,

First of all Happy Thanksgiving to the forum and all it's members !

New member here going bonkers trying to figure out what went wrong . . .

I had a leased 03 A4 1.8T AWD MT5 and absolutely loved it except for the lag on the lower reps, so I looked into the 3.0 AWD MT6 and just received one I purchased online from a San Diego dealer, car took about 10 days to arrive here in Miami, FL.

Car looked just as advertised, paint just about perfect, interior very well maintained, wheels not scuffed, only 58K miles, I was just about euphoric when I saw it . . . . . but then I started driving it : (

Then that euphoric feeling quickly turned to a feeling of confusion and regret . . . I'm not sure if something is wrong with the engine or if my expectations are off a bit, but this car feels sluggish and like it is slower across all RPM ranges, to top things off it consumes a hell of a lot more gas than my 1.8T - What could be wrong with the engine ? I thought I was making a safe bet going for the more "reliable" 3.0 - I also thought I would feel the difference of having 220HP and the extra torque ????

Thinking this can't be real I took the car to a friend to run the VAG codes and nothing showed up . . . He inspected the car and also thinks there is also something not right as the car feels sluggish and does not respond on the lower reps. What can be causing this sluggishness ? I'm trying to refrain myself from feeling I got screwed and need a new engine on a car that has 58K miles and looks like it was pampered from day one. Could this be ?

So far I refueled the car with supreme gas and added a fuel cleaner hoping that it might have been old/bad fuel, I also plan to change the oil, sparks plugs, filters, etc.

Are there any know issues that I should look for ? The car feels like I'm driving a 4 cylinder but consumes gas like a V8 ?

I would like to meet up with some local 3.0 members and get their opinions that way I can really compare engines and see just how much power my car is missing . . . .

Here is the eBay Item number so you can take a look at the car - 180042133851

Any help is truly appreciated as I would like to calm my nerves and hope there is a way to resolve this aside from buying a new engine or a new car : (

Default if the car is running, you probably wont need to replace the engine

it's probably a component in the engine not doing it's job. i think you are on the right track to change the basic logical stuff. i would just get all this done along with a full engine inspection at a reliable local shop. get a professional diagnosis before you start panicking.

Default Oil sludge?

How's the oil cap look? Any residue?

Done a compression test on the cylinders?

Check filter pre-screen for accumulation, change air filter.

Change plugs.

Find another 3.0 and go for a drive. You might just have realized that the 3.0 is slow...

Default Re: Oil sludge?

Yeah checked the OIL no residue . . .

As far as the slow - is a stock 3.0 slower than a stock 1.8T ?? That would be hard to believe 170HP vs 220Hp ?

Default Put in new spark plugs, oil and air filter.

Also your fuel filter might be clogged.

Default What really puzzles me is the amount of FUEL CONSUMPTION

This thing sucks gas like a 5.0 V8 Mustang but has the pickup of a Dodge Neon ???
