My name isn't Warren G since all my regulators aren't rising up
So after 2 months of living with a failing driver's side window regulator I decided to fix it.
If you haven't had the pleasure of failing regulator...this is what one looks like.

As you can see it fights to go up then goes back down. If you are lucky you slowly work it upwards by playing with the switch and giving it some upwards pressure.
The good part about a bad regulator is that is keeps you from stopping at fast food drive thru's so I've saved a number of calories and dollars over the past few weeks, but nevertheless I decided to fix it.
After ordering a new one from Ingrid and Bill from Genuine Audi Parts and pulling up Nanotech's fantastic directions I attacked replacing it. Everything went straight as shown again, another credit to Nano.
The regulator was definitely on its last legs.

The whole job took me about 3.5 hours drinking Gatorade vs Nanotech's recommendation of Beer.
But just when I thought I was done...here comes the best part. As I was getting ready to wrap up for the day and admiring the smooth operation of my new regulator, I brought down the passenger side window...and the son of a #@*! dropped and refused to come back up! Since its been cold I haven't used it in a while and previously it's been slow but never anywhere as bad as the driver's side was. No needless to say the expletive's started flowing and so did the beer.
The local dealer had one in stock, but since I was already upset I didn't want to further upset myself by paying 53% more for the same part I just installed.
So I disassembled the bad regulator and used a part of it prop up the window until I can get one delivered.

So moral of the story, much like headlights and fake boobies, always upgrade your window regulators in pairs.

Regulator video

The week after I did my driver's side window...
someone smashed my passenger window. I should have had the shop do the passenger regulator while they were replacing the glass, since it's clicking now at the top. Early signs... oh well, more beer drinking for me.

Fun job isn't it? I've had to replace all 4! Not really difficult as you said, but go slow
There's a few bolts and tricks to figure out, but it's not bad.
By the way, expect to do your rears in the future too
