Got the Stage 1 chip installed yesterday at AWE Tuning on my B6 a4! Amazing pretty much sums it up!

Buddy of mine was telling me to get a down pipe for it to help maximize gains of chip! Cant afford the exhaust right now...Prices are SALTY!!!
Where is a good place to get one? And are downpipes for B6 a4's with the cat converter??

Also what are you guys doing as far as intakes? I hear good thing about the stock air box with a drop in K&N.

Any help would be appreciated!!

Get an intercooler upgrade instead.
Leave the stock intake.

stock air box is sufficient. nothing compliments a chip like bigger injectors. :-)

what are you guys doin as far as exhaust? can you get just a downpipe or do you have to get the whole exhaust???

The next step is for the 380cc injectors. My GIAC tuner recommended the Siemens ones. The injectors will make a noticeable difference. As soon as you can after that the exhaust system completes the package. I found a nice Milltek system used for $600. This combination of injectors + exhaust is the full Stage 1+ program. You can probably run the 1+ S/W flash with just the injectors but check with your tuner for sure. It sure is fun to drive the car with the added power. I also get much better MPG's.

I averaged 21-23 mpg on a tank of gas when I had injectors. I think the added power made it too fun and I was always hitting the throttle =P

Skip K&N. They are known for damaging MAFs. I think many tuners are having a sale on exhaust systems. Try Strat for Milltek and high flow cat.
