I have a question about caliper carrier bolts: I replaced the brakes
#11
I didn't loosen either of the 8mm's on the rear.
Well, I was going to until I realized that I would have to modify my 8mm hex socket. Two 13mms into the slider pins hold the caliper. two 8mms hold the caliper carrier. I broke the rotors free with a long pry bar. Swing them out from the front.
I contacted several local Audi dealers and emailed GAP. They all confirmed that the only way to get slider pins (*for the rear*) was to purchase a new caliper carrier.
This recent experience is for the rear of an 04 3.0. The fronts have no space constraints and it's easy to remove whatever is necessary.

You got your new rotors in with the carrier firmly in place?
I played that game for about a half hour, deciding there was no way they were going into place without either gouging the rotors to **** or removing the carrier. I bow down to your genius but would love to hear how you did it!
