I found one! Shipping suggestions?
I finally found the car I've been looking for - now I just need to get it here. Anyone shipped a car before and had good luck with a particular carrier? Any tips? The quotes I've gotten have all been really high - any low(er) cost way to do this?
Thanks!

Hey I just bought a '32 Roadster and I am shipping it as we speak....
try Nationwide transport (888)-953-8998...it is running me $1595 for enclosed transport from Florida to CA, but open trucks are half the price..

be very very careful with shipping your car
In my experience there are a lot of crooks out there in the "car shipping" business. You often see these websites or ads for a shipping service. What most don't know is that these people are mostly just brokers; that is, they quote you a price, and if you accept, they put your job out for bid to anyone who can transport the car, i.e. the lowest bidder. So, after you pay them, they have NOTHING to do with the job anymore. If you call them, they won't even know how to locate your car because it was put on a truck and they do not keep in touch with that trucker. The trucker then has to ship to you. Sometimes they are on time but from my experience and several college friends, they never are. They will call you one night and tell you that they will arrive tomorrow. You show up, wait for them, and then they don't come. Also, many of these "shippers" won't unload your car for you unless you are paying them cash when they deliver. Its such a ripoff and it happens more than you would think. Anyone who has used cheaper moving companies has probably run into this. They quote you some price as an "estimate" and when they load all your stuff into their truck, they tell you a different price because they underestimated how much stuff you had. It's all bull****.
My advice: go with a shipping company with closed trailers (1500 miles on a trailer is some serious paint chips) Also make sure they own their own trucks. The really good companies also have GPS tracking on their website for their customers to see where the trucks are.
The link I've provided will show you what some people have gone through. You'll notice the review is of one company, but so many different people have such opposite things to say. That's because these people went through a shipping company that was really a broker, so they all had different trucks delivering their cars.

Review
