HVAC Lowest Temperature?
Howdy,
I've got an '02 3.0 and find my interior temp too high even at the lowest setting (before LO) of 64. This isn't an uncommon complaint but I've been trying to fix it.
A friend just got an '04 3.0 and her HVAC goes down to 60 before hitting LO. So I got an HVAC control unit from a wrecker out of an '04 3.0, popped it in and it also only goes down to 64. So either A) the low temperture comes from somewhere in the car not in the head unit itself or B) there was a mid-year '04 change.
Doing some research I see lots of different part numbers for this head unit. 8E0-820-043G is the original from my car. The new one I got is 8E0-820-043AD and it has an "OFF" button but still only does 64. I see this part number for both '04 and '05 cars and also see 8E0-820-043AM listed by one wrecker as an '05.
So, the question: What's your car's year and lowest temp setting? (And if you really want to dig, what's your HVAC head unit's part #?)
Thanks,
Rich L.

When a used HVAC controller is installled, a authorization code must ...
be entered in adaptation channel 081. This results in the controller retrieving the VIN from the instrument cluster. Some features are VIN dependent. The temperature setpoint offset can be changed by entering "4" in adaptation channel 011, this provides the minimum temperature compared to the setting value shown on the controller. This will lower the output air temp at all settings, by the offset value.

HVAC Plenum Sensor
The HVAC Intake Plenum Sensor (1K0-907-543-A) could be the culprit.
In 2006, my 1.8T started blowing warm air all of the time. No fault codes were triggered and after several trips back to the dealership (and through the process of deduction) we figured it was this plenum sensor (near the AC fan). As soon as it was replaced, the temp returned to normal.
Also, the lowest mine goes to before "LO" is 18C/64F.

Ok. Thanks.
What is this "authorization code?" Is it for the car or for the HVAC head? Can I look it up?
So far, this used '04 HVAC head works identically to the original.

Question...
On my car Chanel 011 does not exist, but in Chanel 01 I have a value of (4) and the controller shows 2 degrees Celsius. If I change the value from 4 to 3, the controller shows a new temperature of 1.5 degrees. Now, will the maintained temp in the car be .5 degrees cooler across the board(even though the HVAC display is unchanged)? Or am I screwing with the wrong Chanel.
I agree with others that 64 degrees is to high for the lowest setting. In the fall and spring, especially if it's raining, I have to run the system to keep the windows clear, and sweat my *** off in the process.
