All,

In the market for some new wiper blades for my '02 A4 Avant. How can you tell whether current wiper arms are the "Aero" arms or the standard arms?

Rather than looking at the arms, look at the blades themselves. If they look like a standard wiper blade then they are not the aeros. The aeros are a one piece design that has a pretty drastic curve to it when pulled away from the windshield. My '02 didn't come with the aero blades (or arms), and I think it would be fair to say that yours didn't either because they didn't come out until years later.

If you want to upgrade to aero blades, you have to replace the wiper arms. Definitely an upgrade worth doing.

The aero blade design began to be used on the A4 during the 04 model year run and is still in use today.

Thanks guys. Since I'm the 2nd owner, I didn't know whether they'd been updated already. I'll take a look at the blades (once it stops raining that is!) and order the appropriate parts.

Man. I gave up. I ended up buying some blades at walmart, and replacing the rubber inserts.
