Default How to jack the rear up at once? Any suggestions?

I have seen some posts on using the area around the hook under the trunk. However, my question is, can I really place a jack under there?

Pictures would be great, too! Thanks in advance

Default With only one jack? Only place a jack at the jacking points. (edited)......

Make sure the front wheels are securely blocked. With two jack stands on hand, jack up one side, with a good floor jack, at tjhe lifting point, then place a jack stand inboard of the jack, under the rear subframe front mounting, lower the jack so the car weight is resting on the jack stand. Now, remove jack and place on the opposite side. Jack up the other side and place the second jack stand under that side front subframe mount. Lower the jack to load the jack stand. Now, move the jack again, back to the first side, and repeat from side to side, until the car is as high as you want it. Use a piece of hard rubber padding between the jack stands and the subframe mounts.

Default Def. chock the front wheels when raising the rear. Bad things can happen! Question diagnosticator...

when you say "inboard of the jack, under the rear subframe front mounting" are you still talking about placing the jackstands at the pinch welds or do you mean further in, closer to the driveshaft? Although I've jacked my car up countless times, I've never been 100% clear on this.

Default That is inboard, or toward the center line of the car. It is a point where the rear suspension ..

subframe is mounted to the body, and is designed to bear weight. (But NOT designed for a jack stand placment there, care is required if that point is used!) Another method, is by using a sturdy (like a piece of oak wood) weight spreader that is padded on the upper pinch seam side, about 1 foot long, and 2 inches wide, and 2 inches thick, placed directly forward of the jack, lengthwise along the pinch seam. (or to the rear, directly behind the jack, when jacking up the front,) with the jack stand placed under the mid point of the weight spreader.

Default Is this the spot near the subframe mount you had in mind?

Sorry, this is the best I could find in Bentley...

Default Hey! posting that pic is a great idea! Unfortunately, I can't clearly identify the ....

subframe mount on that pic, that I was talking about. Let my try and find a view that shows it, and I will post back.

Default I've used the rear diff as a jacking point on many A4s

Not saying it's the best way, but I and many others have done it.
