Help Diagnosing the problem
Let me preface this by saying that I know nothing about Audi engine technology...
the turbo kicks in at arounnd 4-5k rpm.. where as it use to kick in at 2-3k rpm.
the check engine light is on.
the dealership said it was an alarm cause by the chip..( of course they would)
i should have it hooked up to a vag-com and see what it says.
any ideas?
obviously, i'm not familiar enough with the engine technology to troubleshoot this on my own

funny, my winter wheels package, sold by the Audi dealership, consisted of...
4 X 16" steel wheels (with the 4 ring logo stamped on each and every wheel) and 4 Audi wheel covers...

Sounds like what my B5 1.8 did when it lost its turso waste gate
Try to reach a rod that goes from the waste gate diaphram to the turbo. Push it with a wooden stick or the like. If it rattles at ALL it is toast.
If that is the problem you can get a waste gate actuator for about $200 but installing it is the same as changing the turbo and will not be cheap.
Might be a good excuse to go to a K04.
....
Still, it might be as simple as a boost leak or vacuum leak.
Pull the codes.
