Concert II Problem
Cross-post from the audio forum:
I'm having a recurring problem with my 2002 A4's Concert II head unit. After about an hour's use the front of the unit becomes very hot and the display fades to the point of being unreadable. This seems to happen slightly faster when playing a CD; however, it happens with the radio as well. Once the unit cools, everything returns to normal.
There are no radio related fault codes coming up.
Any ideas on what the problem could be?

Update: Fixed It!
The problem ended up being a loose connection inside the unit.
On the right (inside the head unit) there is a small silver box that is soldered to the chassis of the unit - this connection (I'm assuming it's a ground or negative) had become loose. I re-soldered it and it's now fine.
So, if anyone has overheating issues with their radio, have a peek inside before opting for a new unit.
