Default Gas Mileage - What do you get? (B6 A4 1.8QT, Manual, Stage 1+)

Guys,

I know our cars are rated 17/27MPG I believe, but I never seem to get above 14MPG city and 24MPG highway... gas is killing me.

Could you post your numbers on Stage 1+ 1.8QTM?

Would a Borla pipe make any difference?

Best,
!CK

Default My stock 2005 A4 1.8 gets 30 MPG Hwy - I am not kidding.

It gets better mileage than my old VR6 GTI! And it is the heavier avant.

Default Big injectors will do that to you

I am running GIAC 1+ as well and get about 15-18mpg.

How are you calculating? Using the car computer? If so that isn't accurate.

Default On my stock (engine wise at least) 1.8t now I get maybe like 22 city, 24-25 mixed, 28-30 highway

On my last car (2002 1.8t, K04, TT225 injectors, Tiptronic) I got like 19 city, 22 mixed, 24 highway. I think you should check for some blockages or something, becasue your numbers are reading what would be appropriate for the 3.0L V6. Unless you're driving it really hard, I think you should be getting better fuel economy

Default Oh, and like A4Rye said below, don't use the computer thing in the car to get the MPG

When you get gas next, fill it up, clear your trip computer, drive until you get it again, and record how much fuel is put into the car. Take the miles off the trip computer, divide by the amount of fuel put in the car, and that answer is your MPG for that tank of gas.

cool with it.

Default You think you're being killed? Ha. Browse the B6 S4 forums for a laugh.

I met up with a local B6 S4 guy today and he showed me his fuel gauge. It was slightly more than 1/2. He went 90 miles since the fill up.

My fuel economy improved with a K04 over stock.

Yup, that's the proper way to do it.

It'll be better with your current car (manual) and K04.
