Default Fuel quality ----- vs. ----- miles range [question]

Can anyone explain me this situation?
I use most of the time BP, Shell etc. (only brand stations) and when I got my gas in low-income neighbourhoods computer show 280-340 miles range for full tank. When I buy my gas in rich-*** neighbourhoods (same brands) computer shows 390-410 miles range.

This happens pretty often. Is it possible that some of the stations mix gas with something? or it's normal thing.

Gas is always 93 octanes, It happens in Chicago, IL

Default Sounds like another case of "the man" holding the poor people down.

Doesn't sound possible, it's not like the car has sensors to measure gas quality in the tank. The cheap stations may shutoff when filling earlier. Why? I have no idea

Default I get my gas at Costco at times and with usual driving pattern I get about the same range.

some stations are independantly owned, I would raise a stink with Corporate Customer Service.

Default Um, teh MAN is discriminating against "low income" citizens?

j/k

I have no idea. Perhaps you feel more comfortable in certain locations and end up topping off teh tank a bit and thereby end up with increased miles to empty numbers

Default gas is watered down to make it cheaper

dont think your car's computer is going to detect that though...

try checking the volume of gas, and compare that way...

Default You really think they are going to change their refinement process b/c of the final destination?

Highly unlikely. Economies of scale, mass production, yada yada...
