Finding a Hitch for a hitch-mounted Bike Rack
I have a 2004 3.0 FWD Sedan and I was looking around on the internet for hitches to install to accommodate a bike rack. I found Curt 11164-Class 1 Hitch, however they provide a warning which says that it will work for racks with maximum of 2 bikes.
Does anybody know of other hitches that will work with up to four bike racks? Also, is a hitch rack a better way to go then a trunk mounted one?

As a first time poster please take a moment to complete this questionnaire:
Have you been made to feel welcome?
Were you offered coffee?
Was there unecessary use of STFA during your visit?
Will you come again?
Look a little lower on the page to realise the 'in' joke - sorry not funny.
In all seriousness if you don't get an answer here try Forum> General Discussion > Off topic (AWOT) as there are some cyclists there such as 'Carbon Lord' that may be able to help. However, don't open any post with a PIC attached. You've been warned

I've had a hitch mounted rack, trunk mounted and roof mounted
the only one that I will ever use again on a car is a roof rack.
The hitch racks suck for trunk access, the bikes get all kinds of nicks and dings from road debris, suck for parking and city driving, obscure your view, etc, etc, etc....go for the roof rack, you'll never go back.

Just read this again. 4 bikes off the back of any car is a lot.
Is this a regular thing, long distances etc. I'd seriously consider 2 maybe 3 on the roof and if needed the 4th on the back.
But my experience of bike racks etc Thule has been the most impressive brand.
Good luck.<ul><li><a href="http://www.lakelandgear.com/4-bike-expressway-thule-th99-5-6-xt.aspx">CLICK HERE FOR THULE</a></li></ul>

I have a Da'Lan...
Actually looking into selling it and custom modded Thule 2 bike rack that goes with it.
2 is the most bikes you can put on a class I hitch, btw.
It's worked very well for me, but the wife-person fianlly got an SUV so I don't really need it anymore.

Yeah, I don't think you'll find anything greater than class I
I'm with the roof mount crowd, unless you only rarely use your bike. Secure and convenient. Not too noisy with a fairing. The biggest question--the look. Personally I like it.
