Figured it out. There's also a black clip facing you that you have to mess with after you push the purple part forward to unlock it. Thanks for the reply

What model is your Audi? I have a 2002 Audi a4 quattro 1.8t and I have the same issue and i need to order the harness. Just making sure the part number is the same. Cheers

Not to necro this thread, but, can anyone confirm whether or not the front harnesses are interchangeable between driver and passenger side?

I just cut all the wires from the door connector and soldered in new wires.
I made a long loop like spring of my new harness inside the door, that went up into the upper door and
then traveled down. I tie wrapped it so the loop stayed sprung.

That way the wire harness is pushed back into the door when I close it and not bent each time the door is closed and the bending is spread out along the inside loop.

Doesn't look like it but call ECS and give them your VIN.

Found out that they aren't. Not trying to spend $300 on a new harness, so it looks like i'm pulling it from the door and using butt connectors to fix the 7-8 wires that are shot.

Any tips for me?

ebay has solder connectors you can hit with a heat gun.
slide the connector on, twist the wires together, center the connector on the twist and heat it....soldered connection....done.
