Default So how old were these coils, and what version?

The first thing I did, when I bought my A4, was buy a brand new set of "R" coils.

Prevention is better than cure ;o)

Default not sure which version they are... I can only assume the dealer put the newer ones in.

I've had the other two go out on separate incidents in the last year and a half, so hopefully this is the last I'll see of it.

It's an 03 with about 80k miles.

Default Did the dealer change all 4? If not...

you run the risk of the other two, failing at anytime...

Merry, Merry!!!
From the newbie "Sammy Quattro", I have just purchased a 2004 A4 1.8T Quattro.

Anyone have a pic of the ingition coils and their location?

Also, I have heard that you can cap them by applying some kind of paste, to prolong their life?

Sammy

Default I've had the other two go out on two seperate occasions over the last year...

so all four have been replaced by now. I think once the warranty runs out I'll pick up an extra one or two and keep them in the trunk just in case.
