Hey guys- bought a set of Audi cross bars for the B6 series Avants. Under the rubber moulding on the top, there are two little hex bolts that seem to unlock the rubber feet for install.

But my hex tools don't seem to fit them. Not sure how to work these, awaiting message back from the seller.

Is there a special tool or am I looking at this incorrectly?

It takes an extra-long hex, iirc.

...it doesn't work for this one. Also, none of my hex sockets work. This is some weird one...the hex depression in the bolt has a raised center dot, which means your hex tool has to be like a donut or a hole saw w/ an open middle. Very weird.

Trying to find one on the Audi parts sites, no luck so far

My B6 was a sedan, but I gave it a shot.

I would expect the B6 tools to be the same.

Very important- has to be a Security bit..if not, it will not work. Luckily, local Home Depot carried one screwdriver kit w/ both regular and security hex star bits.

I just thought it was a special Audi tool due to the B5 bars I had earlier.

Hopefully, this will help anyone else who has a B6 Avant w/ base carrier bars and a lost tool.
