Default Buying a new A4....need some advice.

Im going to be trading in my 99.5 A4 1.8T Quattro for something newer. I am looking at getting an 05 1.8T or an 06 2.0T. Can anyone point me in the direction of some useful materials to compare the two? I know that the 06 is the new body but I havent heard much about that particular model-year, so lets hear some rants/raves about these cars!

ps. please ramble on, i have time to read lots of stuff!

Thanks in advance!

I would check out the actual Audi USA (assuming you're in the US) site for all pertinent details.

You may also want to checkout the B7 A4 forum, too.

There is lots of info out there...just grab a shovel!

Good luck.

Get all the info. on the B7 A4 off the Audiusa website, and compare it to the info. on carpoint.com They do not have their Audi updated yet to the B7, so they have all the B6 material still on there. That should give you just about everything you need.

Default Simple word of advise, get the B7. I have owned 3 A4's, two B6's and now a B7.

The B7 is a totally totally diffrent car. The only exterior body pannel that is the same is the roof....the engine is a HUGE improvement, you get the brakes from the S4, the suspension is a huge improvement...Nav+, Adaptive lighting etc just to name a few....

The car is totally diffrent in a better way.
The car with a simple ECU flash from APR is putting out 250/300Tq....the potentinal for power is big on the 2.0T....

...take my comments for what there worth, but have owned 3 of these cars, I think i have a pretty solid fundimental basis as to what the positives and negatives are for each.

Default I just bought my B7, and I have had a B6 & B5

Let me just say, definately the B7. THE ONLY thing I miss off the B6 is the locking gas cap w/ doors. Other than that, the B7 is better in every way.

The steering feels better, the weight distribution seems better. The look is opinion, but I love the front. I think the back of the B6 was a little better, but i'm sure the new one will grow on me.

The B7 seems quieter, and the BOSE is better.

Even the seats seem to be better. The color Trip display is great...the steering wheel is great. CUPHOLDERS! Nav+ is super cool. Bi-Xenon's are actually way better than regular (never thought i'd even care). I went from a 2.8 in my B5, a 3.0 in my B6, to a 2.0T in my B7, and it is definately the best. The 3.0 had a slightly smoother feel, but the 2.0T is fast! and it definately is still smooth. Plus the rev's are finally timed right! Nothing bugged me more in my previous Audi's than driving at 70mph and already being over 3k rpm. Now, you don't hit 3k until 90mph . And at 105mph it's still under 3500rpm.

And last, I will say this: Toys. One of the things I love about Audi's is the amount of gadgets and "crap" (but cool crap) they put in the car. Memory seats, power folding mirrors, auto dimming mirrors, rain sensing wipers (which tell the brakes to wipe off water, so you can stop faster!), adaptive lighting, etc. This stuff is what makes you (or at least me) truly feel like i'm driving a superior car! A lot of cars handle great, and a lot of cars can go through snow. But not many can do both, have all these toys, and still feel like a true luxury automobile.

Go with the B7 - you will never look back.
