Brake Pad Wear Indicator
Hi All,
This is a fairly basic question so hope I'm posting in the correct forum -
2005 Audi A4 1.8TQM - my brake pads (front and rear, I believe) appear to have the wire coming out of them that gets attached to some sensor. My question is, when the pads wear down sufficiently, will I get some idiot light/dash warning message? Or are these wires simply to tell the ABS computer how it should apply brake pressure based on remaining pad thickness? Do the pads also "squeal" when they are worn down to the point of needing replacement?

Well if you have the wire coming out of the pad then you will get a worning when they are low. And yes most pads come with squelers when they squeal it means the pads are low.

pads
the wire is to let you know that your pads are about to run out of friction material, nothing to do related to abs, and they don't squeal when they about to be finish
that as far I remember is only on japanese or american cars, kind of a cheaper sensor feature
