A4 rant (coil packs)
Just blowing off a little steam... Wife's car is exhibiting the dreaded coil pack failure was driving fine yesterday morning, but on a quick trip to the mall in the afternoon, the car started the stutter on our drive home.
Couple of questions-
1) Our's is an '04 1.8T; I thought this problem would have been ironed out by that MY? Or perhaps I'm mistaken...
2) This should be covered under CPO warranty, right?
Damn this car!
Okay, despite all it's flaws, I still love it...

Cheers,
Randy

Should be covered
When I had my last CP failure, I pulled each one w/ the engine running to find the culprit. As a result, I had misfire codes on 3 cylinders (because the one I didn't pull was new), & subsequently the dealer replaced all 3 coil packs in one swoop. I'm just sayin'................... ;-D
BTW, they replaced my fuel pump too on that trip, which I hadn't even noticed any problems with.

Interesting that you should mention the fuel pump...
I've been noticing it making some racket lately... Chalked it up to maybe not noticing prior, but your post makes me think that something might be going on there as well. I'll have them take a look
Thanks much!

No problem. I believe there was a recall on the fuel pump
not sure if it covered all B6 yr models though. Mine is an '05, & some recalls don't cover that year (hopefully because the problems were resolved by then, & not due to Audi ducking out of repairs). Either way, mine was supposedly faulty & under original factory warranty. My CPO is now in effect, & recently had my turbocharger replaced under it for $50.

Pump was only on '03 models IIRC.
If the fuel pump area is making a noise, I strongly suggest changing the filter. Best $40 spent on keeping the pump alive.

It should be, but a CP costs ~$30 and your CPO deductible is $50 iirc
So unless they're replacing all four, its cheaper (and easier) to DIY. And I have a '04 1.8t and I replaced all 4 again this morning (2nd time in roughly 6 months), so the problem is not specific to earlier models
