a4 3.0 mods
I recently bought a 2003 A4 3.0 Quattro w/ sport and premium and need some info on good performance mods. I'm not interested in any cosmetic modifications but would like to see some info on chips and intake mods.
There doesn't seem to be any real options for the 3.0 besides a K&N filter and I doubt this will add any tangible increase in horsepower. Please correct me if I am mistaken.

Re: a4 3.0 mods
Correct; K&N filter won't give any performance benefit on the 3.0 unless you're comparing it to a very dirty stock filter. Just make sure you change the stock filter regularly.
The stock instake is otherwise good enough for the 3.0 and you won't be able to get performance gains by replacing it, in my opinion. Same goes for the exhaust on the 3.0.
As far as chips, you can try a search here; There's a few, but since it's not a turbocharged engine, the gains are minor (compared to the gains achieved by a chip in a 1.8T). The only way to get a big jump in performance is to go with a supercharger, unfortunately.
The engine does seem to "loosen up" and gain a bit of performance as it puts on miles though, so give it some time.

There is a Neuspeed SS kit...
I just installed it over this past weekend and I am very happy with it. True you wont go any faster but the shifting is a lot more enjoyable. =)

http://neuspeed.com/products/product_details.asp?app=14|AQ&type=3&ltype =ns_euro&p_id=994</a

With a NA engine, chips will give you maybe 10 to 15hp on average.
AMS/Abt has a 300hp supercharger kit, but it's $$$ as any kit like that would be. Right around $9K including install and custom tuning with an engine test cell and dyno.
