Rattling noise when I accelerate
I have a 2003 A4 1.8T, when I accelerate from a stop or from a slower speed I hear a rattling noise that sounds like it is coming from the exhaust. It does not happen at higher speeds. Has anyone had this issue or heard of it before?

Rattling noises
I have the same issue with my 2005 A4 1.8T even if slowing down while in gear. Usually when accelerating, it occurs in 2nd or 3rd between 2500-3200 rpm. I'm taking it to a friend’s shop today to rack it and check things out. I hope it's just a heat shield or something. I've only had the car 3 weeks.

Update!!!
Took the car into German Motors in SF. My best friend is the shop foreman there of the body shop. He racked it up and found a busted connecting rod that looks to support both mufflers. A quick welding job fixed it right up! No more rattles!!! This finally feels like a new car to me!
