2002 A4 reliability
Considering a 2002 A4 sedan with 80K miles. Price is good @ $7K I
think? But I've heard there are reliability issues. I own an '87
5000 TQ wagon, but it's getting old.... ;-(
Anything?
Thanks!

90K on my Audi, I bought it at 36,000 miles less than two years ago.
Other than coil packs, none recently, and a coolant flange leak it has been pretty solid.
It also had a oil leak on the cam timing chain tensioner. I fixed that while I was doing a timing belt job.

I have a 2002 A4TQM. I bought it two years ago w/ 36k. Now I have 65k. I had 1 coil pack fail. Easy fix, replace all of them w/ newest rev, and keep a spare in the trunk...
My air pump is starting to make bad noise and causing Check Engine Lights (it's for emissions). I picked up a used one for $80, but haven't installed it yet.
Timing belts should be replaced every 70k or so.
Make sure the previous owner used Synthetic oil and changed it regularly (less than every 7k) Check under the oil filler for signs of sludge (occurs sometimes if non-systhetic is used w/ 10k intervals)
Otherwise it seems pretty solid...Great driving car!
