Audi for life 1987

I am getting catalyst efficiency bank 1 and bank 2 I ordered cats from the parts store 270 a piece! Went to the store to pick them up. The quality of them are horrible! I really don't want to put them in.I really don't know if my old ones are bad that's just what some one told me. I don't know how to test the 02s to see if they are bad. My friend has the new version of vag-com. i just don't know what the procedure is on testing the 02 sensors and is there any way of telling if your cat is bad? Any help would be much appreciated! I hate CEL

there is a way to test the cats and see if they are bad. i believe it is in the Bentley manual. I think I read it on AZ or QW from one of diagnosticator's posts.

that being said, i've had an intermittent bank2 efficiency code every 2000 miles or so for the last 30k. And I reset the codes and go on my way. i'm convinced it is an old sensor and crappy gas, even though i use 93 only. Also, i've passed CT emissions x2 despite the code. (it was cleared before the test).

I have the 1.8t and have the same issue. I don't even reset the CEL as it resets itself after a few drives.

IIRC it resets only after you complete a "trip" of sufficient distance for the ECU to run another test on the CAT. I want to say it is 70-100 miles, but i can't remember. it was explained to me that if you don't drive the trip, it will take longer to reset.
