Wow Audi... thanks for making removal of the ABS controller so easy....
NOT.
I knew I was in trouble when the first step said, " go to trunk of car and remove toolkit ."
So yeah, I finally got around to removing my ABS controller to send to ModuleMaster and I was hoping I could just remove it from inside the engine bay alone. I was thinking perhaps a fifteen minute job at the most. Well, of course not.
The position of the ABS controller means it hits the windshield wiper fluid container when you try to remove it to the side. More importantly, you can't reach the six t20 torx screws to remove the abs controller because.... of the windshield wiper fluid container.
So I had to;
1. Jack up driver side wheel and place on a jackstand.
2. Remove wheel
3. Remove driver-side wheel liner
4. Remove windshield wiper fluid container to reach HIDDEN bolts covered by wheel liner.
5. Spend five minutes removing ABS controller once the rest of the car has been disassembled.
.
Thanks Audi.... thank you very much.
.
**** YOU AUDI.... **** YOU VERY MUCH.

Better than 6 hrs to replace alternator on a Chevy Z-34
Sorry to hear it took so long ,but all manufacturers seem to have something these days thats a PITA . Another that comes to mind is most Ford Taurus take 12 hrs to replace the heater core. Too many engineers these days need to spend some time in shops and on the production line to get a "REAL WORLD" view of things. There was a Jaguar in our shop a few weeks back that took hours to get to something simple, can't recall what it was ,but the tech was real pissed . I'm sure Carson and Phil have some Audi/VW parts they hate to work on for the same reasons.

All Audi had to do was turn the ABS pump/control module ninety degrees....
towards the front and it would have been a fifteen minute job including potty breaks.
sigh...
I love the Germans but I hate them sometimes.

Know what you mean ,we've all been there.
Like why did they hide allen bolts behind the pulley/behind the fan clutch on the 30v ? Thats the type of thing that baffles me.

GM engineers have had the head up the A for a long time
the techs also hate dropping the Silverado fuel tank to replace the evaporative vent valve, a common occurance.
