Why did you buy your Audi?
I just thought it would be interesting to find out why you chose your Audi over the competition, Ie: BMW, Mercedes, and the like...
I bought my 98 A4 1.8T QM in December 2002 because it was within my price range, with 35k on the odometer, and I thought the styling of interior and exterior were well above that of BMW and Mercedes of similiar years. Oh, and I love the way it drives, and the Quattro isn't all that bad for Virginia winters and fickle springs!
Lets hear your story...

i bought mine b/c after waiting 5months for my VW 337 to come in from Germany...
I finally threw in the towel, and bought my A4. I was tired of not having a car, but wanted to stick w/ the 1.8T engine.
A week after I bought the Audi, the 337 came into my local VW dealership.

Because...
Was done with my SUV and the gas it ate casue gas was so expensive (looking back... wow was i wrong on the gas price part) :-P
Oh, it was also my highschool graduation present.
Looked at Lexus IS300, BMW 3-series, Acura's
Tossed the acura idea b/c of front wheel drive
Tossed the Lexus b/c the back seats didnt fold down (and i needed that since i surf all the time)
I think i tossed the BMW for the same reason?
The audi had everything and more. I loved the quattro. Seats folded down. Had someone nice power for stock (what i thought at the time). And I an 01 with 13k miles on the clock back in early 2003. It was CPO'd and i knew i basically had 4 years of unlimited miles.
I never at the time would have thought I would have kept this car as long as i have. But i just cant sell it. I love it. And i'll contintue to love it and put more and more money in it (for upgrades and repairs) untill it just doenst want to turn over anymore.

I did want a BMW at first, but my one friend convinced me that I'd have more fun with one of these
if it was German, had a manual trans, I was happy. I did really want leather, but leatherette was good enough. I leased it and didn't plan on keeping it, but when I was looking at about $5000 in excess mileage, another monthly payment was much easier. It took me almost 3 years to finally chip it. It's been an addiction ever since.

Because it was cheap and shiny......(:::::big picture warning:::)
Saw it online, was marked at $7,200. Drove 80mi. the next day with $6.5k in my pocket with full intentions of bringing it home with me. It was all wheel drive, 5spd, and had leather. My requirements were met. The damage didn't appear to be too bad from the photos, but I also did not know anything about Audi's(or any German car for that matter).I ended up getting the car, 4 new tires mounted, a 6 disc changer, and a flatbed tow back home for five thousand scooters. I guess the guy liked cash. I followed the flatbed all the way home and washed it as soon as it was off the truck. Started working on it that night, and have been in love ever since......

What I couldn't fix myself(ie: frame straightening), the shop finished up for me. I did most of the welding, all the new body panels, paintwork, and all the finishing touches.....
I am very pleased with the end result.
