Where to buy catalyst? [2000/A4/Quattro/v6/2.8]
I need to replace the Bank2 catalyst on my 2000 Audi A4 V6 2.8L Quattro.
Dealer price is over $1200 for the catalyst / catalytic converter.
Questions -
1. Where can I buy OEM catalyst that might be less expensive? How much should it cost?
2. Your opinions on using the Eastern, Davico, or Benchmark catalyst available online - e.g. at http://www.thepartsbin.com/catalog/?...d=A4%20Quattro
These are priced around $350-$450 - one fourth of the price at the dealership.

I think I paid less that $500 including parts for both sides.
They aren't CARB compliant though. So if you live In CA, you are out of luck.

For a bolt in solution, they sound good. I'd opt for the one that has a warranty and stainless tubing. It's amazing how fast these cars eat through cheap tubing.
For my money, on an older car that may or may not make it 5 more years, and being that I have a welder, I'd just cut the old ones out and weld in new generic cats.
Having said that, remember that the 2000 has 4 cats; there are smaller pre-cats on the downpipes..
