Default Wheels won't come off?

I am putting my aftermarket rims on my 1998.5 A4 and can't get my stock rims off? I jacked it up, took off all the lugs, but the damn wheel won't budge? Am I missing something? does the bolt behind the center cap have to come off? I WD40'd the thing like crazy. Does my emergency break have to be up for it to release the wheel? PLEASE HELP

Default Take large bar and wedge it between the tire and upper control arm and lever it off

If you wd40 it, make sure you use brake cleaner on your rotors. The wheel sometimes seizes on the center hub, use some anti seize and it won't happen again.

Just kick it. Probably rusted to the hub.

I did give it a kick and nothing, and the weird part is is that I had 4 new tires put on about 4 weeks ago, so Town Fair tire got it off no problem.

What will the WD40 do to my rotors?

Kick it harder at the tire. Side, then other side, then side, then other side.

Default I suggest you buy some Never Seize (get the copper stoof) and put it where the wheel mates with the

hub/hat so you don't run into this again. But what everyone else has suggested for getting off will eventually get the wheel off. Good luck, and don't hurt yourself.

Default Yeah, rusted to the hub.... my techniques:

Use a rubber mallet on the rim. If you don't have one, get a block of wood with enough surface area, and hold the wood snug against the rim. Then whack the block with a regular hammer. You might want to re-thread in a lug bolt or 2 part way in just to keep the wheel from popping completely off and landing face-first on something and getting scratched.

The idea is to get a good sharp shock to break the rust free, which is hard to do with a kick or with leverage. Plus, leverage is probably more likely to break something else.

I've had to beat mine pretty badly just to get 'em to let go. Since then, I use a paper towel to smear on some anti-seize compount on the mating faces. They're a lot easier to get off now.

And no, the parking brake has nothing to do with it. Once the bolts are out, it's rust and friction only.
