He just killed that gasket and had a leak there? No gaskets there, he should have known this.

Default Yes it was very dead...

The nuts at that junction were not torqued to 25nm spec as I remember. I was using locking nuts but they were the type used on the exhaust manifold of the AEB which has a partially segmented top as the lock mechanism. I've since replaced the $8 gasket changed the hardware to bolts with washers integrated in the heads and switched to crush type lock nuts also with integrated washers. Hardware has been and still is 10.9 grade material. If this attempt fails I'll be adding some high temp thread lock, if that fails I'll consider titanium hardware with thread lock. If Ti hardware fails I might consider removing the gasket... that is unless Joe tells me to do otherwise.

Default A slew of us have found metal to metal with no gasket is best as the gaskets almost...

always deteriorate so quickly.

I'm aware of the arguments over hardware and gaskets.
