Default What do you think my car is worth?

1999 A4 1.8T quattro
- 5spd manual
- cloth upholstery w/sport seats
- 157K miles
- original owner; every factory option, except hands-free mobile phone

tons of upgrades, most note worthy (off top of my head):
1) MTM Stage 2+ (MTM Stage 2 w/KO4 upgrade) = 225hp, 236ft-lbs torque
2) 17 x 8" AvantGarde Design SL wheels
3) euro spec HELLA 2 piece xenon headlights
4) Porsche Boxster brake calipers w/Audi A8 rotors
5) stainless steel braided brake lines front & rear
6) Stasis springs, Koni shocks
7) S4 body kit all around w/M3 style side view mirrors

other upgrades I can think of:
1) RS4 grille
2) In.Pro clear side markers (blink orange)
3) UUC short shift kit
4) Sparco aluminum pedal kit & foot rest plate

items that aren't working:
1) Needs new clutch (considering having this replaced prior to selling)
2) trunk mounted 6-disc CD changer not working
3) driver's side heated seat not working optimally

Further consideration: car will be detailed prior to selling and will include a second set of 16" ATP (AT Italia) alloy wheels with Dunlop snow tires mounted.

I know kbb.com will give me a baseline for a stock car, but I'm sure all these upgrades are worth something, right? Thoughts, comments, experiences please!?

Thanks all,

-Jeff

Upgrades that aren't covered on the kelley blue book (or other) site are only worth as much as someone will pay for them (hard fact of life).

A lot will depend on how old each upgrade is as well. The older it is, the more it will have depreciated.

Were I you, I'd start with the Kelley Blue Book figure, choosing every item that's actually in your car to get the base figure. Then, I'd look at craigslist and ebay and even the local paper to get an idea what value those non-listed upgrades may be worth.

Good luck!

KBB has car value at $4K so my thinking is this:
needs a new clutch = $1500 parts & labor
all those upgrades plus extra set of winter/snow wheels & tires = worth at least a few K?
$4500? More? Less?

Thanks,

Default If it needs a new clutch fix it.

Selling a car with an obvious problem is going to bring low-ball offers.

If the prospective buyer takes that car to the dealer they will find all sorts of $$$$$ stuff. It's what they do.

You want to have it so they can just drive it, the last thing they will want to do is drop it off to be fixed.

I have bought and sold 7 cars in the last 3 years.

The mods will put off a lot of people, an unmolested car is a plus. Wheels and tires are no problem along as they are well matched to the car, but don't expect extra $$ for them.

Thanks,
I've bought and sold many modified cars and trucks. They key is to find your buyer. If it's a schmoe off the street new to Audis/VWs but a good car buyer, take $1 off the KBB for every dollar in Mods Spent. Yeah, it stinks, but it's a good rule of thumb. When many see a modded vehicle they think some pimple faced kid beat the bag out of the car. BUT if you find the right buyer, (Here or on Vortex for instance), and you angle the car as the one owner beauty that it is with just the one issue, you can likely keep the mod value up and just take the hit on the clutch...

Thanks guys. I'm thinking of having the clutch replaced before I sell it. Will keep you posted.

Wow man, you have a really nice car! I have a 1998 Audi A4 2.8Quattro 5 speed. To tell you the truth, it all depends on car's condition. I have 127k on mine and its near perfect condition. I wouldn't put mine for sale below $5,500. You have mods on your car. Some people might like it, others may see it as the car that was being raced or beat the crap out of. It all depends on the byuer. I sold a 2000 Audi A6 4.2Quattro to some lady. She just liked the color and interior. Just don't rush selling your car. Somebody will show up eventually who will want to buy your car at or close to the price you agree to sell.

Regards
