Default What is the difference between S4 and A4 lower door molding?

I need to source out lower door moldings for a 2000 A4 sedan. How do the S4 moldings differ from the A4 ones? Also, how many clips should I order as well?
Finally, is genuinevwaudiparts.com the cheapest place to buy them??

Default a comment....

Here are the specs from the order for our 00 sedan, from sunset imports(audi/porsche dealer, 1-800-346-0182) in oregon:
8D0-853-959-B-01C, LF cover(driver's), $33.55
8D0-853-969-B-01C, LR cover , $26.07
8D0-853-960-B-01C, RF cover(passenger), $33.55
8D0-853-970-B-01C, RR cover , $26.07
8D0-853-909-B , clip, qty. 26 , $0.54 each
I'm sure a number of the sellers here are right around these numbers or possibly less? Anyway, this gives you one reference/data point. I also replaced the foot rest cover as well since ours was scratched up. Here is the data for that:
8D1-864-777-1EJ, support(dr ft rest), $11.35
It makes the interior look much nicer when you enter the car now.
I believe the only difference between the S4 and standard is the S4 is prepped or set to be painted the body color. The standard have a matte black finish meant to stand up to the weather.

Default "only difference between the S4 and standard is the S4 is prepped or set to be painted"

I don't think thats accurate. The lower molding on the A4 is made of like a rubbery/plastic material. Furthermore the A4 ones go below the door further (they overlap the stock sills). The S4 ones are hard plastic, no flexibility, and I think they actually sit a touch higher.

Default a response...

Hence the term "I believe". The A4 ones are pretty hard, at least the one I just installed were. There was very little flex, if at all in them(metal frame inside).Yes, your probably right that the S4 units are probably a tade larger.

Default I wasn't razzing ya! A4 sit lower and overlap sill, taper at the bottom. S4 don't overlap sills as

S4 has side skirts over the sills. S4 piece is more uniform, top and bottom about same thickness, as opposed to top of A4 being a cm and a half or so, bottom being 1/3cm give or take..
