Default Well...replaced the Bailey's with my stocker yesterday to try and fix the boost problem...

was only holding 15-16 psi on my X-chip and heard a fluttering sound through the open intake between shifts. Replaced with the stock BPV yesterday and there's no more fluttering, but no increase in boost either. So obviously, the Bailey's was not functioning correctly, but not the source of my missing boost. *sigh*. Also replaced two more vac lines, the one from the BPV to the intake manifold, and the one from the T for my boost gauge into the manifold. No difference. I'm really starting to think my turbo's on it's way out...

Default I had a similar problem..

I have a 2001 w/ the X Chip and I couldn't hold more than 12-13 psi. It turns out that my wastegate actuator had a leak in it. ECS tuning has them on their website for $170, but it says they are on backorder. I went to www.turbodriven.com (the official Borg Warner site) and found a local distributor. They were able to get the actuator to my door within a week and for a total cost of ~$100 shipped.

Here's the dilemma: you have to remove the turbo to replace the wastegate actuator, so it becomes very tempting to just replace the entire turbo. Plan ahead an make sure you have all the gaskets and bolts you will need for the removal/re-installation process.

Good Luck.

Default Do the usual tests (pressure test) to rule out the obvious.

I know a few people have had issues with holding boost on the 2001's. In silver streakin's case it was a leaky wastegate (not the actuator. The turbo worked fine otherwise, and it would have continued to work for another 100K miles...it just wouldn't produce the kind of boost that it did when new.

Default Bailey's=crapola IMO now. I will be replacing mine with a Forge whan I go BT.

The Bailey's break down quick and are not easy to maintence like the Forge.

Yeah, I agree. I will probably hold out on this and just wait until I go BT
