the dimension difference of the 1000 vs 600 isn't that big...
seat height's about the same. The bike overall is about an inch bigger than the 600s.
I'm talking about the modern sportbikes here. The big diffence obviously, it's the power.
the new 1000RR or 1098 will be my next bike...but i'm still keeping the 600 for track use.
but then i'm 5'6" 130lb. =p

1) Just make sure your car's tank is at 1/4 or less...
2) Don't be afraid to cut the band if needed. I pulled the original screw that held the clamp together apart and used as ziptie in it's place to hold the fuel filter band clamp together. Audi really overengineered the thing so it won't fall out.
3) Use a smaller bottle or scissor jack to help support and raise the tank again once it's been loosened.
I think part I wasted the most time was trying to remove the rusted screw that held the clamp together. Second hardest part was pushing the tank back up to be resecured with the tank bands. I used a scissor jack and flat piece of wood to help lift it up again. I was at 3/4 tank full! If it was 1/4 or less it would have been cake.

Thanks!! I'll take a look this weekend at the condition of the band and the screws.
I think a new fuel filter would really help some of the detonation and pinging issues I am experiencing right now.. or so I hope.
