Default This question was kind of adressed last night.

and the answer is-WHY?
you didnt buy this car to be a drag car. if you did, then you're an idiot. do you know how much bentleys and stuff weigh? classier cars just weigh more. then add in the fact that quattro isnt exactly feather light.
you want to make your car lighter? here's a few steps....
remove complete rear seat
remove spare tire, carpet, tools
remove both front seats, replace with one carbon fiber racing shell
remove a/c
carbon fiber fenders, hood, trunk lid
lightweight wheels
lightweight clutch/flywheel
aftermarket brakes (usually lighter than stock)
remove airbags

how's that sound? now you're not going to be using this as a daily driver, are you?

a4=slightly heavy.

DEAL WITH IT.

Default a part of tuning, i would think, is to make it lighter.

not tear out your seats lighter, but maybe removing the spare wheel..
maybe that is not the general concensus, i just thought it was.

Default "slightly heavy"? The only reason to call the B5 A4 slightly heavy...

is so you have room to describe the even heavier B6 A4, and the even more porky B5 S4. The RS6 ain't no Miss Germany 2003 either, but I'm getting off track.
