Looking for new auto...hard to decide between the above listed cars. I had a Jetta GLI-loved the way it drove, but had recurring problems. Has VW's quality improved? I travel a fair amount, & I've got to have reliabilty. Since VW & Audi share so much,is it really worth the extra money to get an Audi? The VW Jetta & Passat seem like a better value,but I'm really impressed with the Audi A4! Everything I've read about the new S40 has been good...great warranty & safety record. Has anyone driven an S40? If so, what were your driving impressions compared to the other vehicles?

The Town Hall area at www.edmunds.com has various threads. A couple of months ago I followed a thread on A4 vs. S40.
I never got around to comparing them anymore than on paper so I can't offer an opinion. They do seem to be natural competitors, altough no manual option on the Volvo immdiately turns a lot of people off.
