Vag'd the car last night and got the following faults thrown. Can any one who knows explain what this means (especially the Solenoid valve faults). Thanks for the help!

00526 - Brake Light Switch-F
(27-00 - Implausible Signal)

Default As far as the 00526 code- most likely a simple fix:

From Ross-Tech:

In addition, many Automatic Transmission Control Modules will show a DTC 00526 or 17087 that indicates a faulty brake light switch. This can also be ignored and will not appear if you press the brakes once before checking for Fault Codes.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_2.html#DTC-Ignore">http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/faq_2.html#DTC-Ignore</a></li></ul>

Default The transmission used on the 2.7T A6...

seemed to have some problems with the Solenoid Valve seals. Not really sure if that could be the problem you're having- but it's definitely something to do with your trans. My recommendation: since it is intermittent and you didn't mention any other symptoms, I would reset the codes and see if they come back.
