I came across this some where on the web. The 1.8 turbo motor came in 2 variants, "high boost" for quattros and "low boost" for other models. Is there any truth in this????

Not true. The 150hp A4 1.8t came stock with lower boost then the 170hp A4 1.8t.

Thanks for your reply but sorry, still a little lost.
There was a 150hp A4 1.8t and a 170hp A4 1.8t?
The 150hp has lower boost than the 170hp?
So I guess the engine number or something will tell me which motor I have? or was each motor assigned to specific A4 models?

the following is for US spec cars:

all US spec A4s up to 2001 with the 1.8T engine had 150hp, then all US spec A4s 2002 - 2005 with the 1.8T had 170hp.

150hp was up to 2000. The 2001 and up 1.8t were 170hp. The 2001 B5 A4 1.8t was basically the test car for the B6 engine(06A) and ECU tuning which has the wide band 02 sensor.
