Default Trying to figure out rear brake situation

My 96 A6 needs rear brakes so I would like to possibly move the A4 brakes to the a6 and get new ones for the A4. Trying to find out I they are compatible and what I should get for the A4. Any suggestions?

I looked up the part numbers, they are the same size but the part numbers are different.

A4
Rotor - 8D0 615 601 B
Carrier - 8E0 615 425
Caliper - 8E0 615 423(4)

A6
Rotor - 4A0 615 601 A
Carrier - 443 615 425 A
Caliper - 4A0 615 423(4)

Any help here?

Actually, the numbers are the same. VW part numbering system is really nice. The first three digits tell you what platform they are from, also found in teh VIN. 8D is B5, 8E are B6 cars, 4A must be the C5 platform. You'll find a lot of sharing of parts between platforms. 443 I have no idea, but I see them a lot in the B5 catalog.

Any reason you are using A6 stuff? Email Joe @ AxisMS if you want to actually by the stuff, he'll take care of you.

Default S4 rear brakes?

How about upgrading to S4 rear brakes?
I'm parting out (and apparently pimping my parts out) my '00 A4.

The rotors have less than 16k on them, The calipers are in good working order, the dust shields are not rusted. I kept the pads when I put the stock calipers and rotors back on. I'll pm you with details.
